This is a topline picture of what you need to do to manage your hives over autumn. To manage your colonies well you will need to adapt their natural patterns with your aims.

• Replace Queen if needed
• Start to reduce hive size down to one brood box
• Ensure there's plenty of honey and pollen stores for bees during winter
• Check brood frames for signs of AFB
• Check brood frames for varroa and treat
• Check bees to ensure they're healthy and free of disease to get through Winter
• Check for wax moth
