Summer (Dec, Jan, Feb)

This is a topline picture of what you need to do to manage your hives over summer. To manage your colonies well you will need to adapt their natural patterns with your aims.

• Remove any varroa treatment
• Check the Queen has a nice lay pattern
• Ensure there's plenty of room for the Queen to lay
• Super up to ensure there's plenty of room for the nectar being brought in
• Check supers for wax moth
• As the frames of nectar are being capped move them up to the top honey box
• Harvest and extract honey
