The Franklin A&P Show is to be held on the 17th-18th February 2024. The Committee has decided to have a stall there with the last one being a great success considering it was a trial run. So if anyone can spare an hour or so over that weekend it will be appreciated by the Club.
How about some of our long term members coming along and helping us talk bees to many people who are interested to learn how they get honey? It would only be for as long as you can spare, but it is quite a feat the committee are attempting with the whole weekend being manned.
Are you a beekeeper or thinking about becoming one? Do you live in the South Auckland or North Franklin area?
Franklin Beekeepers Club, based in Paerata (near Drury and Pukekohe) is a fun, welcoming club for both new and experienced beekeepers. So, if you’re enthusiastic about bees or even simply interested in bees you’ll fit right in.
We’re about building support networks, sharing information and exchanging advice with lots of “what do I do…” and “this is what I did…” conversations.
Our meetings are fun, friendly, interactive and informative. Our intention is to provide training and guidance to members and support friendships forming.
So, if you’re interested in beekeeping and bees, come along to one of our monthly meetings to chat with us over a cuppa, look into our club hives and see if we’re the right fit for you. You’ll be warmly welcome.
Email email@example.com if you want to come and check us out. That way we can reply to you, then watch out for you, welcome you at the door and introduce you to others.
We meet on the second Sunday of every month (unless there is a Covid lockdown) from 9.45am to midday at our clubroom and apiary.
Meetings start at 9.45am with a cup of tea/coffee/milo and chat amongst members (a great opportunity to get or give advice). The monthly discussion and/or demonstration (with Q&As) starts at 10am. Then (optional) we head into our apiary for a practical session (weather permitting).
Click here for the date of our next club meeting.
Address: 137 Sim Road, Auckland 2580.
From Pukekohe, head to Drury on Paerata Rd (which turns into Karaka Rd). Sim Rd second on right (has turning lane) after passing Caltex and Pukekohe Golf Club.
From Drury, head to Pukekohe on Karaka Rd. Sim Rd on left after passing Blackbridge Rd on right.
Clubroom and apiary are approximately 1.4 km along Sim Rd on left. Watch the sharp right-hand corner halfway along. Please park on the verge to allow room for residents to drive past. When leaving Sim Rd please take care re-joining traffic on Karaka Rd (as it's also SH22).
To reduce the risk of spreading disease, please do not bring your beekeeping equipment like gloves or hive tools to the club. You’re welcome to bring your bee suit and we’ll provide you with gloves and other equipment (and bee suits too if required). This protects our club hives plus protects you from taking diseases home to your hives.
