This is a topline picture of what you need to do to manage your hives over spring. To manage your colonies well you will need to adapt their natural patterns with your aims.

• Check capped brood frames closely for disease
• Check brood frames for varroa and treat
• Do your annual disease inspection - click here for more information, due 30th of November
• Ensure there's plenty of honey and pollen stored and feed if required
• Rotate frames to ensure the Queen has plenty of space to lay
• Ensure base/bottom board is cleaned of any debris build-up from Winter
• Split hives if required
• Swarm control
• Unite any weak or Queenless hives
